Peak Bloom Lavender Sessions

Thank you for making the 2026 Peak Bloom Lavender Sessions such a wonderful experience!

Each summer, the lavender reaches peak bloom for only a brief window before harvest. These limited portrait sessions celebrate that fleeting moment when the fields are at their most vibrant and the evening light is at its most beautiful.

The 2026 sessions have now concluded, but they'll hopefully return next summer. If you'd like to be among the first to hear when 2027 dates are announced, be sure to join the waitlist below.

If you're hoping for photos in the lavender this season, I may still have limited availability for private portrait sessions before harvest. While Peak Bloom Sessions have concluded, you can learn more about private lavender sessions below.

Private Lavender Sessions

Looking for more time, greater flexibility, or a fully customized experience? Private lavender sessions may be available during peak bloom for those seeking something beyond the one-evening Lavender Session event.

While the Lavender Sessions are designed as a shared one-evening event during peak bloom, a limited number of private lavender portrait sessions may also be available.

Private sessions typically include one hour or more of dedicated shooting time, greater scheduling flexibility, additional creative opportunities, and a fully personalized experience for couples, families, maternity portraits, seniors, branding photography, proposals, and special occasions.

Private sessions may also be a good option if the Lavender Session event date doesn't work for your schedule.

If you're interested in a private session, please contact Nathan directly for availability and pricing.

Why Lavender?

The lavender is a crop, not just a backdrop.

Every summer, Mesa Verde Lavender transforms into something that almost feels unreal.

For just a few short weeks, the fields reach peak bloom before harvest begins. The lavender is harvested at its most beautiful to protect the quality of the oil, which means the opportunity to experience the farm in full bloom is brief and intentional.

Imagine standing among rows of purple lavender at golden hour, the scent filling the air, the mountains glowing in the distance, and the entire landscape bathed in summer light.

FAQ

Don't worry, we got you. Here are some answers for your questions.

Mesa Verde Lavender is a working farm, and peak bloom is a relatively short window that varies from year to year based on weather and growing conditions. Rather than spreading sessions across multiple dates, the Lavender Sessions are scheduled for a single evening when the fields are expected to be at their best.

Limiting the event to one evening also helps reduce traffic and disruption to the farm while preserving the relaxed atmosphere that makes the experience special.

The fields only look like this for a short window each year before harvest begins.

These sessions are perfect for individuals, couples, families, maternity portraits, seniors, engagements, proposals, branding portraits, and anyone looking for a unique seasonal photography experience.

There is no wrong reason to be in a lavender field in full bloom.

Each 15-minute session includes:

  • A reserved portrait session during your selected time slot

  • An online proof gallery featuring the best images from your session

  • 20 professionally edited digital images selected from your proof gallery

  • Personal-use download rights for all selected images

Additional images may be purchased separately from your proof gallery.

A proof gallery will be delivered within approximately 48 hours of your session. Once you've selected your favorite images, your final edited photographs will be delivered via online gallery within approximately two weeks.

Neutral colors, earth tones, soft pastels, creams, and natural textures photograph beautifully among the lavender. Avoid clothing with large logos, busy graphics, or neon colors.

Once booked, you'll receive additional styling guidance to help you prepare.

No. Dogs and other pets are not permitted at Mesa Verde Lavender during these sessions.

The lavender is a crop, not just a backdrop. Because the lavender is harvested and used in a variety of products, the farm maintains restrictions on pets within the fields.

Service animals are welcome as required by law.

Mesa Verde Lavender is a working farm with uneven terrain, gravel pathways, and agricultural infrastructure.

If you have accessibility needs or mobility concerns, please contact Nathan before booking so accommodations and session logistics can be discussed in advance. While every reasonable effort will be made to create a successful experience, the property is not a fully ADA-accessible public facility.

Both session options include the same 15-minute session length and 20 edited images.

Early Evening Sessions take place as the sun begins to drop toward the horizon, bringing warmer tones and softer light while the lavender fields remain beautifully illuminated. This timing offers vibrant color, bright fields, and a classic summer evening atmosphere.

Golden Hour take place during the most sought-after light of the evening, when the sun sits low on the horizon and the landscape is bathed in soft, warm light. This brief window is known for its gentle contrast, glowing color, and particularly flattering portraits.

The final 8:40 PM appointment is offered as an After Glow Session. While the sun will set around 8:40 PM, the light often remains beautiful well beyond the moment the sun drops below the horizon. Depending on weather and atmospheric conditions, this brief window may include soft pastel skies, lingering color, or the gentle glow of dusk settling over the lavender fields.

As with any sunset, the exact colors and conditions are never guaranteed, but this time of day can create a uniquely peaceful and atmospheric setting for portraits.

Light rain, clouds, and changing weather can often create beautiful photographs and do not automatically require rescheduling.

In the event of severe weather, dangerous conditions, or farm closure, registered participants will be contacted directly with available options.

These Lavender Sessions are currently planned as a one-evening event during peak bloom. If this date doesn't work for your schedule, please contact Nathan directly. Depending on bloom conditions, farm availability, and overall interest, additional opportunities may become available.

For those seeking more flexibility, a limited number of private lavender portrait sessions may also be available during the bloom season.
